Microinjection into Zebrafish Embryos

Microinjection remains the most popular and effective of the methods to introduce antisense Morpholino, plasmid, RNA, proteins and chemicals into fertilized zebrafish eggs. A microinjection grass needle is filled with the Morpholino solution (with marker dye, such s phenol-red) and attached to an apparatus (e.g. FemtoJet) that forces the solution out of the needle with air pressure. A small amount of solution in then expelled into the cytoplasm of the embryo before withdrawing the pipet, and the injected embryos are incubated to develop further.
